Contemporary romance novels are set in the present time.
Category romance: The main plot of a category romance novel revolves around the hero and the heroine and their battles to develop love for each other and work to build a relationship together.
The characters must have goals, motivation and conflict. Let’s face we all want to see them struggle a little before they find true love.
Nora Roberts explains category romance:- "The books are about the celebration of falling in love and emotion and commitment, and all of those things we really want."
Mainstream or single title romance: In the single title romance, while the hero and heroine play a big part of the story, so does the heroines family and friends. However, the characters still need to have goals, motivation, and conflict. But the happy ever after is not a given.
